Teaching Positions

Computer Science and Programming Teacher
SJNMA has an immediate opening for a full-time computer science/programming teacher for high school courses in computer fundamentals as well as introductory and intermediate programming. Teacher certification is strongly preferred but relevant work experience will be considered.

We seek a creative and innovative lead teacher who is willing to build and expand our computer science/programming/coding offerings. The teacher will have wide latitude to design engaging and relevant curriculum in each course to meet standards and learning outcomes. Resources include access to Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and drone equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who seeks autonomy and freedom to design course content that they know students will be excited about and benefit from.

This opening is for the 2019-2020 school year with the opportunity to begin teaching during the summer of 2019. The position of faculty member at SJNMA includes opportunities for athletic coaching, summer teaching/work, and additional paid roles depending on desire, talent, and need. Faculty members are also required to support certain supervisory roles from time to time.

Administrative Positions

Enrollment Counselor
St. John's Northwestern Military Academy is seeking a mature, professional, and energetic individual who will be responsible for the enrollment counseling, admissions process and recruitment activities of prospective cadets. It is essential that this person develops and maintains relationships with these individuals and their families by converting initial inquiries into new enrollments to consistently meet and exceed department goals. Additionally, this person will develop a clear understanding of the history of the Academy and provide complete tours to individuals that visit the Academy as guests of the administration, historical tours for visiting groups.

As an Enrollment Counselor you will:

  • Answer incoming inquiries from all sources including telephone, internet, mail, email, etc
  • Invite inquiries to campus for Open House, First Formation, Shadowing a Cadet, Summer Camps or individual family visits
  • Conduct all closing and informational meetings with the prospective families
  • Work and complete all student files to ensure all appropriate paperwork is received
  • Maintain strong relationships with all families to help expand client base
  • Schedule, market, and attend all off-campus events nationwide that promote the Academy
  • Provide overall support to the Enrollment office as needed
  • Nights, weekends, and travel are required in this position
  • Experience must include:

  • Public speaking and presentation skills

  • College degree preferred

Resident Life Positions

Night Security
This is a full-time or part-time position charged with responsibilities of overnight supervision of 7th through 12th-grade cadets and their barracks. Daily duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performs overnight / nightly (to include weekend) supervision of cadets, barracks, and grounds.
  • Maintains a Daily Duty Log for reporting to the Department of Resident Life.
  • Enforces cadet rules and regulations.
  • Identifies and reports maintenance and security issues via the chain of command.
  • Monitors and arranges shift activities according to schedule requirements and staff availability.
  • Makes necessary changes to schedules in the event of unexpected absences. Reviews, coordinates and may authorize requests for time off and use of casual employees.
  • Maintains standards of conduct through a professional and personal lifestyle that reflects on the image of the academy.
  • Ensure compliance with established rules and regulations. Assist in the recommendation, development, and implementation of improvements to systems and procedures.
  • Frequently check fire and security system for proper operation. Be able to troubleshoot security system and retrieve necessary information.
  • Perform clerical duties incidental to security, i.e. logs and records.
  • Provide leadership in the event of an emergency.
  • Maintains professional uniform appearance standards that support and reflect the high standards.
  • Secure buildings, areas, and ensure that all lights or equipment that is not needed is to be turned off.
  • Coordinate activities with other Security personnel for coverage.
  • Inspects cadet rooms for the possible possession of contraband into the academy and the promotion of a drug-free environment.
  • Inspects and reports health and welfare issues on a regular basis to uncover or prevent issues of abuse.
  • Coordinate and execute cadet life activities when applicable
  • Enforce military appearance and standards.
  • Maintains accountability of each cadet assigned to the company.
  • Ensure cadets maintain the barracks and their individual rooms to a high standard of appearance.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience in the security field, law enforcement and/or honorable service in the Armed Forces of the United States is helpful, but not required. Drivers License, with a clean driving record required. Free on-campus housing available. Full Benefits package available. Summer / Seasonal Positions

Summer Camp Counselor
St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy's summer camp programs are in need of Summer Camp Counselors and Operations Support Staff for 2019.
Mentor, coach, and counsel our campers to help foster personal growth and leadership development, making a positive impact on the rest of their lives. This is a great work experience for current ROTC members, education majors, or someone who enjoys physical activity and being outdoors.
Opportunities to reside on campus available, free hot meals are provided. Programs start mid-June and run through mid-August. Flexible schedule and full-time availability is preferred, but not required.
