Stephen Matz joined St. John's Northwestern Military Academy in 2014. For almost a decade, he has worked to advance philanthropic initiatives through his work in fundraising, alumni engagement, events, marketing, and strategic planning in the area of education and health services. His career in advancement began in 2010 in higher education as the director of alumni and parent relations at Marian University. His volunteer work in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society led to his role as their director of development where the primary responsibility focused on constituent engagement and consultation for fundraising events like Walk MS and Bike MS.
Prior to his work in the non-profit sector, he spent the better part of the early 2000s working in various marketing roles in the pharmaceutical and real estate industries.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration degree from Marian University and boasts a certification in fundraising management from the Lily School of Philanthropy at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
In addition to his primary role at the Academy, he joined the SJNMA basketball coaching staff in 2015 and enjoys the opportunity to work with the cadets and share his passion for the game having competed at the college level himself.
